About the lesson
What I have learned from teaching art, is that the most important building block to being an artist is simply learning to see. One must be able to notice details and be deliberate in adjusting to the different subjects. The same methods for creating good artwork is the same methods I use for teaching students. I first focus on seeing and understanding the student so that I can best suit their needs.
My teaching method is focused in a very individualistic approach. It is important to understand the student and how they work and process information. Often, teachers and tutors teach with their own perspective in mind insteading of considering the perspective of the student. I will focus on the individual to understand their thought process and learning style so that we may cooperate in a way that leads to the student's personal success.
I embrace differences and support the students creative expression while guiding them to complete their goals. In my experience of tutoring, students have made dramatic progress within my lessons. I teach the techniques that I have learned through college art classes, but I can alter my lessons to adhere to the students personal goals. In this sense, the student is receiving a quality but personalized lesson.

About Kateri
I am an artist (graphic design and fine arts) with experience working with children at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I embrace different ages, abilities, and temperaments. I adapt my teaching style to each individual and accommodate their individual learning approaches. I work as a freelance artist and sell artwork as well as enter competitions on state and national levels. My art skills are varied from charcoal drawings, figure drawings, painting (oil and acrylic), to digital art.
