About the lesson

My teaching method is tailored and personalized to each and every one of my students according to their needs, goals, educational level and preferences, while accommodating their school curriculums and the material required by their own instructors. It's a learner-centered technique that will reshape your whole approach towards studying difficult subjects and will have you studying smarter rather than harder while enjoying the material in hand.
My methodology will include the following:
-Coming up with personalized learning objectives that suits the student's needs.

-Dissecting difficult concepts into simple and small ideas easier to absorb, hence grasping any hard topic thrown at you.

-Going out of the old fashioned boring lectures and slides by optimizing the understanding process with the usage of audiovisual aids such as videos, animations, educational apps, mnemonics, flashcards, spatial repetitions and case discussions.

-Prioritizing my students' mental well being and creating a stress free, fun and safe environment for them to reach their full potential using the interactive/participative teaching method.

-Monitoring my students performance, and always readjusting teaching strategies and techniques for improved content delivery.

- Evaluating and assessing my student strongest and weakest points in each test he/she is taking at school and work accordingly addressing all the concepts in which he/she fell short in.

-If you are a medical student aspiring to take the USMLE steps, I will back you up with my own efficient studying plan, resources, flashcards and tips and tricks that will definitely have you ace your test with flying colors.

Finally and most importantly, I will always have your back, believe in you and boost you with the motivation and positivity you need to keep going!

About Mira

I have been a tutor for as long as I can remember and I will confidently say that to unlock the key to a successful learning experience and to the best study plans is to remember the thing that I am best at which is non other than being a student myself.
I am a medical laboratory graduate and a medical student who just like you faced the struggles, pressures and hardships of the workload a student experiences. Therefore, other than being equipped with any study tool a student might need out of my own experience, I also find it of uttermost importance to create for you the stress-free and uplifting motivational environment that schools fail to provide. You will be fully taken care of educationally and mentally. Never doubt your capacities, you can indeed achieve anything you set your mind on attaining and I will give my all to make sure of that.
I truly can't wait to embark on this journey with you and witness your improvement into the best version of yourself!

    1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

The biology of the human body has always been a passion of mine ever since I was a young elementary school student. And while there are many fields that involve biology I could not but jump into medicine as I was immensely drawn not only to its humanistic side but also to its investigative side that intrigues me to learn more and more about human physiology and pathology everyday. As for tutoring, I have been a private tutor for as long as I can remember beginning with teaching my younger siblings, friends as well as many students that reached out to me and have found a huge happiness in helping others achieve the goals they thought they are incapable of reaching. My teaching experience ranged from teaching languages (english/arabic/french) to biology ( physiology, pathophysiology, microbiology, genetics, etc...) to biochemistry, chemistry, music, history, physics... but my favorite subjects to teach were all biology related subjects and languages and I decided to work on myself and unleash my full potential in mastering my teaching skills in these subjects.

  • 02

    2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

As previously mentioned I teach languages and university level biology courses thus I frequently discuss with my students lectures about microbiology (bacteriology, virology, parasitology and mycology) and pathophysiology which happen to be my favorite subjects to tutor, however any other subject falling under the umbrella of pathology will still have me teach with my full potential due to my passion for both biology and private tutoring.

  • 03

    3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

A role model of mine was a math teacher at my highschool, he is not your typical math teacher and goes out of his way to find the most suitable methods that will target the understanding of all of his students without discriminating between the students. A true inspiration indeed!

  • 04

    4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The secret to being the best tutor you can be is patience, organization, preparation, flexibility, good communication skills, self-assessment and the will to constantly improve yourself, be open to criticism and feedback from your students regardless of it being positive or negative and improve yourself accordingly and most importantly always put yourself in the student's shoes and remember that you go hand in hand with the student on this journey so be kind and caring for your students to feel comfortable asking you anything and consequently be able to have them reach their maximum potential.

  • 05

    5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I was still in school, I remember us as students being afraid to ask questions when confused due to the negative response of our teachers. Growing up I managed to challenge this misconception regardless of any reaction a teacher might have to any questions as it is a right of mine to ask whatever pops into my mind and to have everything clarified for me. Thus, this is a strategy I implement with my students, no question is a dumb question and a teacher's job is to politely and kindly respond to any inquiry his students have with no prejudjment and hesitation.

  • 06

    6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

A difficulty I managed to overcome in the field of teaching is related to effective interactions with my students in the era of online learning due to the pandemic. However, with proper resources and inventive ways to keep my students alert and interested with what I teach I have successfully conquered this challenge.

  • 07

    7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I am passionate about teaching in general as I have experienced a good amount of bad teachers in my life and have become determined on not doing to students what unpassionate made us as students go through to get the education we wanted.

  • 08

    8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

What makes me a superprof is being a superstudent in the first place and knowing the struggles a student goes through and wanting to make a change in these students struggling for them to know that they have immense potential. You should NEVER doubt yourself and your abilities. BELIEVE in yourself and with determination and hard work you will make it, and I will be backing you up all the way through.
