ABOUT MY METHODOLOGY:

First of all, I am an specialised and fully dedicated Online Teacher.
I have been teaching online since the very beginning of the covid pandemic.
Since then, I have developed a lot my way of working.
All my lessons are run on Skype which after many different trials I found out to be the best provider in terms of image and sound quality! Also, to enrich the quality of the audio from my students, I very often use a pair of professional headphones which give me amazing high definition sound and articulation of the student.
I also work on my iPad/IMac with the Apple Pencil and using the share screen resource I can demonstrate and draw on music sheets and methods that I am working with the student at that moment.
I simply love it and most of the time it really feels much better than a lesson in person due to all these technological possibilities. Besides all the COMFORT the student gets from learning without leaving home and spending PRECIOUS TIME travelling to the teacher's home.

How I work:
PRIORITY FOCUS basically is a non-multi tasking way of learning a musical instrument.

We start at the very basic aspects of posture, fingering and embouchure and, within time, we climb our way up to the most detailed techniques and musical expressions. One Flute playing ability at time.

This methodology is constructed on what I call the TWO PILLARS in Music learning:

MUSICALITY AND INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUE

Both intermix and coexist in a single dimension, but when we consider our time and effort to LEARN AND PROGRESS in Music, I find that separating them is essential.

INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUE, in our case, FLUTE TECHNIQUE, embraces aspects such as posture, embouchure, fingering, breathing, articulation, tonguing and music reading.

But in MUSICALITY we go deeper, having FUN constructing musical phrases, vibrato, dynamics, tone colours, and even, improvisation

CLASSICAL, JAZZ, FUNK, POP, SAMBA, BOSSA-NOVA, I can work with you in any of these styles.

I use several distinctive Flute Methods, from the most TRADITIONAL to the most MODERN ones, as well as EXERCISES that I have specifically developed for Flute technical improvements from years of experience as a Flutist, Student and Teacher.

I also use many teachings from distinct areas such as Yoga for FOCUS and RELAXATION and Alexander technique for Posture and BALANCE.

I provide all pdf materials from my vast library completely FREE TO MY STUDENTS.

About Marcio Cursino

Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I'm a 40 year-old British/Brazilian citizen. I have been playing the Flute for 28 years, since I was 12 years old.

There is simply nothing in the world, besides from being with my wife and daughter, that I love more than playing and teaching about Music and the Flute.ย 
I am extremely PATIENT, ENTHUSIASTIC, DEDICATED AND CARING TEACHER.ย 
MOTIVATION is the key and I GUARANTEE that youโ€™ll leave motivated after each of our lessons.
โ€‹
My career as a teacher also began very early in life at the age of 17 at my father's Music School "Music is Life" in the state of Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil. Later, I continued teaching privately when I moved to the UK after I graduated from my BA (Hons) at the Colchester Institute in Essex.
Today, besides from teaching, I am also Solo Piccolo at the Taubate Symphonic Band and Principal Flute at the Vale Philharmonic Orchestra. Recently, I have also been awarded for best soundtrack for the movie Duda with my composition Loneliness for Solo Flute. ย Other awards include the Solo and Duet Competition I won during University.

I live with my wife Carol and our beautiful 6 year-old daughter, Maria Flor. I consider myself a very happy and fulfilled person. I find that having something as special as music as a way of living (or even just as a hobby) can be very FULFILLING and THERAPEUTIC. And the very same I can say for teaching.

One of the greatest Flute teachers of all times, the Englishman Trevor Wye, said in his book "Proper Flute Playing":ย 
โ€œthe greatest quality a teacher can have is enthusiasm and passion for teaching.โ€

And that is how I like to path my way as a teacher. PASSIONATE and ENTHUSIASTIC to the art of Music and the Flute, the oldest and most mystical instrument in the history of mankind!

Marcio Cursino is an experienced Flutist, Piccolo Player and Music Teacher.

Now at 40 years old, Marcio divides his time intensely between the career of Professional Instrumentalist and Professor of all levels. ย Besides being the father of the beautiful 6 year-old Maria Flor!

Coming from a musical family on part of his father and mother, Marcio began his musical studies at the Recorder at the age of 11. At 12 he was already transitioning to the Transversal Flute.
At 17 he was teaching the Transversal Flute and Guitar at his father's school, the so-called "Music and Life". ย Where he began his extensive experience as a teacher.

In 2000, at Sรฃo Paulo - Brazil, he graduated from the respected Conservatory "Maestro Fego Carmago" at the Transversal Flute and Saxophone with the legendary professor Jonnas Mansur. ย In that same year, he traveled as a Flutist representing the Conservatory of Music in exchanging performances in France, for the project "500 ans d'amitiรฉ Brรฉsil et France".
From there he traveled straight to England to further his musical studies with Professor Catherine Sign, graduated of the acclaimed Royal College of Music in London.

In 2005, he graduated Bachelor of Music with Honors from the Colchester Institute of Music in Essex - UK, where he won two competitions: Soloist, with a performance of the complex Solo Piece from Varรจse - Density 21.5, and Duet Competition with the talented flutist Amy Little .
