Salsa Date Nights

You just asked someone out on a first date, and you are trying to think of something fun and energetic to do with them. You should take them to watch a salsa competition. Salsa competitions are happening all the time and are a super fun event to spectate. The music is great, and everyone is in a good mood. Sometimes they even open up the dance floor and you can try out some moves you saw in competition with your partner.

If there isn’t a salsa competition, then a night of salsa dancing will do. There are tons of restaurants and salsa studios that hold open dance nights. It’s a great way to break the ice between you and your date, plus these local events are usually pretty inexpensive. Once you start moving it will give you something to talk about over dinner next time.

If you find yourself in Bethesda, Maryland, every Friday night is Salsa Date night. You can join the Salsa with Silvia studio which includes a partner lesson and then dinner after. It’s a super fun excuse to get out of the house and share a special night with your special someone. If you are ever looking for another place where you can practice your salsa, make sure to check out the local salsa venues around town.

Professional Salsa Performances

Every year New York City holds The Big Salsa Festival. They bring the best instructors from all around the world to teach and show off their talents. At this annual festival you will see incredible performances with some of the best Salsa and Bachata DJs throughout an extended weekend, Wednesday through Sunday. You can also expect salsa workshops, rehearsals, and open dance floors where everyone can give it a swing.

If you are on the other side of the country in Los Angeles, then the world World Salsa Festival is your dance floor. This festival is normally held annually in May and brings together salsa performers and DJs from around California, Latin America, and beyond.

You can draw a lot of inspiration from watching how professionals move. Pay attention to how they move their feet and keep in time with the rhythm. Non-verbal communication is also a key component in dancing, which most dance novices forget. Watch for how they tell their partner to move forward or backward, side to side. When they are good salsa dancers it is almost imperceptible, but shifting weight or a look can tell the other person to move in a certain direction.

Salsa Studios

In Miami, Florida, Salsa Kings is the way to go. You have the choice of online, group, and private classes 6 days a week. They start in the evening starting at 7 pm, so it’s easy to schedule it after work. This is a great spot to meet new people, get some exercise, and learn a new skill on a weekday evening.

Close to Miami’s University Park area, you can also find salsa at Salsa Lovers. This studio will have a different vibe and structure than Salsa Kings, but their schedule may fit better with yours. Plus, on Wednesdays, they offer Afro Cuban dance lessons.

Various types of dance can also complement your knowledge of salsa and offer some personal interpretation when you make the dance you own. If you’re in Austin, Texas, Salsa Austin holds private classes for you and a partner. The instructors are available mornings, afternoons and evenings just send them an email to schedule it. Another benefit of Salsa Austin is that they offer other types of dance instruction like Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Cha-Cha, and Argentine Tango.

In nearly any part of the United States, there are opportunities to improve your salsa skills. It can be in person or over the web, but the essential thing is to move. Studio lessons will offer that sense of community and you’ll usually get to try your moves while meeting new people.

Salsa Groups

When you need a more budget-friendly option, Salsa groups are perfect for practicing new moves with strangers and for turning those strangers into friends. Let’s say you’re in Denver, Colorado and you want to find a club to learn salsa. A quick first step is to search online, where you will find a variety of Salsa clubs and groups that meet up on different days of the week at different times. There is a salsa group for every type of learning style and will fit any schedule you need.

If you find yourself in Phoenix, Arizona, you should check out the Valley of the Sun Salsa Lovers Group. All skill levels are welcome and with over 3,000 members, you are sure to find a dancing partner.

Private Lessons

Let’s say you have a big event coming up. Maybe it’s a wedding, maybe it’s a date. But you want to impress this person with your dancing skills. You want to take over the dance floor like Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing and impress everyone with your finesse and grace.

If you’ve tried the clubs/the big group classes and you are still watching yourself in the mirror hopping with two left feet, then it’s time for some salsa private lessons.

Private salsa lessons might be really expensive at the studio but with the online community of instructors at Superprof, you can get budget-friendly private lessons wherever and whenever you want. You can dance at home, in the park, and even at your office. All you need is an internet connection and you can dance to your heart’s contentment.

There are thousands of qualified Salsa instructors that will show you how to Hammerlock Flip or Double Under perfectly. Once you get proficient at one type of dance you will be intrigued to learn other types of dances. You will become a professional in no time and underway of being a professional. The more you start learning and teaching your body the more you will pick up on other dance moves and dance types.
