About the lesson

My lesson plans are customized for each student since everyone has different learning goals and a different learning style. Before we begin a lesson, we'll discuss your goals, preferences, methods, and what parts of Korean you want to focus on. Also, you can request what to learn in each lesson. Based on that, I'll prepare your lesson plan.

I use textbooks, my own materials, flash cards, and various activities - pictures, songs, and role-plays etc. You can also bring your textbooks if you like. During the lessons, students have many opportunities to speak out and learn to speak naturally and smoothly.

We'll explore Korean cultures, trends, and traditions as well since I believe they are essential to language learning.

About Joohe (Judy)

I studied Education and the Korean Teacher Training Program at the University of Korea. I have taught Korean in Korea, Japan, and Canada in private lessons, language academies, junior high schools, and various organizations for over 18 years.

I'm patient and responsible. It's one of my strengths to make my classes fun, engaging, and encouraging to my students.

Teaching is my passion. It's definitely rewarding for me to see my students improving in their Korean skills.

She is a great student who is eager to learn Korean. She knows a lot of Korean grammar and vocabulary. What she should do is to practice making sentences using the knowledge that she wants to say. She has been improving each lesson, and I know how hard she has been working. I am excited to see her progress in Korean.

It's amazing how well she pronounces every word. When I correct her error, she recognizes it immediately and knows how to speak correctly next time. She can apply what we learned in the lesson to her situation. I believe she'll be able to improve her Korean skills so quickly and easily, especially in sentence structures and speaking.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
My strength is explaining things simply and clearly. I enjoy learning languages and assisting others. For these reasons, I decided to pursue a degree in education and teacher training. After graduation, I've been teaching languages for over 18 years. Teaching is my ideal profession.

What makes you passionate about your subject?
Learning languages should be a fun experience. I'd like to let my students know how much fun it is to speak Korean with Koreans. I feel so rewarded when my students tell me they understand more of what Koreans say or when I see their growth when they speak Korean fluently with me. This keeps me motivated and enthusiastic about teaching Korean.

What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
Everyone learns languages differently. Depending on the preferences of each student, I use different teaching styles, methods, and materials. It takes time to prepare and customise each lesson, but it's so rewarding and fulfilling.

Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
During my time working at a language school in Korea, teachers had regular meetings to share ideas and come up with new ways to improve classes. The teachers also demonstrated their classes to each other to get feedback. I was greatly inspired by my supervisor. Her classes were always excellent and outstanding. It was my goal to become a teacher like her, so I always evaluate my classes and ask myself whether I am doing well.

What are your keys to success?
I've taught you, so I'm done. It doesn't make sense to me. I always see how the students are growing and progressing and caring about their learning. As a teacher, I also need to keep learning. I stay updated about teaching methods, materials and the Korean education system. I attend meetings to discuss these topics with other teachers.
