About the lesson
Sessions will vary greatly depending on individual clients' goals, but here are the core similarities: I want to help you create a performance that you are passionate about and can be proud of, so I am going to ask you a lot of questions - about yourself, how you envision your character, the source material, etc. The last thing I want to do is talk at you, so I try to keep my directions concise. I want to keep you acting - doing what you came here for - for the majority of the time. I view any performing art like exercise. You don't get better unless you spend a lot of time, on your feet, doing it. So, I want to have us both live in the space of the performance and the craft for as long as possible, without tangents or distractions.
NOTE: I also teach kids! This all sounds very serious, but I was a child in acting too, so I like to think I can easily relate to my younger students. With children, I try to keep the environment low-pressure, because it is important that they learn how to have fun with this craft while also putting in the work. If your child is taking a professional route, I try to give them opportunities to express their own creativity, while still maintaining focus on our given objective. I have found that the industry tends to appreciate professionalism above all else, which teaches amazing work ethic, but can lead to some insecurity surrounding independent thought and creative autonomy. I would love to provide any kid with a place where they can play and fully explore their ideas. You never know what could come from a little idea!

About Caroline
I am a SAG-eligible actor currently studying Theater, Creative Writing, and Film at Georgetown University. I started acting as a kid and have been employed in professional theater productions as well as union and non-union film work, all while balancing life as a full-time student. I have a bounty of experience auditioning for film and theatre. In addition, during my college search I auditioned in-person for BFA/conservatory programs such as Carnegie Mellon, USC, Julliard, Syracuse, UCLA, NYU, Chapman, UNCSA, and others. If you are going through a similar process and want feedback on you monologues or friendly advice, I am open and honest!

Details
If you are booking lessons for a child with little acting experience, below the age of 12, I charge $15 for 45 min. A 30 minute class is $12. I also offer hour-long group classes - three students or more (usually for kids) - and each participant is $10. I do not charge for cancellations. For our first lesson, I consider it more of a get-to-know you, in which we will discuss your goals and what you (if the lesson is for a child, this includes the parent) want from me. However, if you have a deadline you are preparing for, or you just want to have fun, we can certainly get to work right away.
